Yesterday, we had the honor of being invited to Children's Hospital of Los Angeles for #MakeMarchMatter Volunteer Day. Grounded Kidswear has officially partnered with CHLA for the "Companies for Kids" program, allowing us to visit CHLA kids for a monthly day of service benefiting patients, families and caregivers. We had a great time playing, coloring and doing arts & crafts with outpatient families and look forward to the next opportunity to help. One of the most fun pop-up shops we've done to date definitely goes to Smorgasburg Los Angeles. We were invited to bring our infamous booth to Family Day last week (first Sunday of every month), and then once again to the highly anticipated Smorgasburg Pop-Up on the Pier in Santa Monica this past Saturday. The beach vibes & delicious food were giving us dreams of a waterfront brick & mortar... give us a couple years and we just might get there!
As an official launch event for #MakeMarchMatter, the team at Children's Hospital of Los Angeles hosted Mega Miracle Day yesterday at the beautiful Taglyan Complex in Hollywood. Grounded Kidswear was invited and honored as a participating partner, and there we were greeted with an amazing lunch, inspiring speeches, and hearts full of appreciation. Every year we look forward to partnering with CHLA and hope to see our relationship blossom as we bring much-needed support to the lives of sick children. Today marks the launch of the second annual Make March Matter™ campaign in support of children’s health and to bring focus to the healthcare needs of children. More than 100 businesses are participating this year to collectively raise $1 million in support of programs and services at CHLA that build healthier futures for children. We are one of them! A letter from founder, Kathleen: My life changed during the summer of 2013. I was at school in London at Central Saint Martins University, and my mentors asked me what my dream company would look like. For my final design presentation, I introduced a concept company called Grounded Kidswear, a co-ed fashion brand grounded in philanthropy. This idea was inspired by long days and nights working in a pediatric intensive care unit before deciding to take on fashion design... it was there I witnessed how important art was for every patient (and their families) fighting a serious illness.
